I rode the 700 Diesel today...

...and I will never EVER ever own one. I like a lot of different machines, but I give this machine a resounding "F" in the trail riding department. The 700D didn't even have great pull the acceleration and top speed is HORRIFIC. My buddy used it to drag his yard, and his V2 performed much better. I think the 300AC would beat this thing in a drag/top speed race. It topped out for me at around 32mph, and from a dead stop I gunned it and the thing took off like a wind powered bowling ball.
I do not see this thing being available very long. I expected at least a moderate showing from this machine, and couldn't be more dissapointed.

It may be a little early to draw such poor conclusions. This is strictly a utility machine and developed primarily for services where diesel is only fuel on premises. Diesel engines react very well to performance mods. I think AC will sell all these they can build to ranchers, hunters, and military.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't ride it if you are interested, but don't go in thinking this is going to be a do-all machine. Trail riding is possible, but you certainly won't be enjoying a spirited ride. This is definitely grampa's vehicle in terms of performance.
We hit some water with it too and the *** end sank like a bag of rocks. Several other machines crossed at the same point just fine with no problems, including a 96 Polaris Ranger, and a few fairly new AC's. The 700D took some water on and was a real bugger to get going again. On the plus side, if it hadn't been a diesel we probably wouldn't have gotten it going again at all.
The guy who rode it today as his primary vehicle quit at least an hour early, and he will not be getting one.

Ram air requires speed to function, so that would be a wasted mod.
A turbo would actually be a really good thing for that machine, it definitely needs something to give it some pick-me-up. It seemed very heavy, like I said we threw it in some water and the thing sunk in almost immediately. It worked the **** out of my winch trying to get it out.
