I was knocking off some snow and noticed that my colletion bottle on air box was all black on the inside so i opened up the air box and it is covered with a liquied that has filled up the bottle its dark like oil and smells like it but thats as much as i have down the intake is still clean so is there any suggestions on what to do

 

I think that must be common. I had the same sounding goo in my rancher and my brother has one and lives with me. His rancher also has that in there. I have over 800 miles on mine and it was rolled. I thought maybe that caused it. His has just over 100 miles on it and has never been rolled. His had the same thing there. I believe it's excess oil from the foam filter with a collection of dirt that was sucked in the box.

 

Did you just have a oil change not to long ago,it is motor oil for sure.It blows threw to crank case vent these is normal once in while for several different reasons.

 

If you have rolled it or layed it on its side, oil will come up the crankcase breather tube and get in the aribox. I have done it before.

 

It is totaly normal. Just check the tube every now and then and always keep an eye on how much oil you have in there each time. if it increases and starts to fill up the air box I would have your dealer look at it

 

I got about 1/4" of oil in the collection tube today, was a little worried.But after reading this post it seems to be of little concern.
