Default Tire valve stem extensions

The tire valve stems on my 07 X2 are very short so I added extensions that are still inside the the tire width but they do not have caps. Do you think stems without caps will be OK? Is anyone using extensions with or without caps? Thanks.

caps just help keep it clean and prevent anything from hitting the valve to let air out. in the mud and crap i would want caps if it was me.

I used them for a while but mud worked its way in somehow.... They were convenient for checking pressure but not worth the risk. imo
