In New York, as long as you have a valid title (or registration prior to 1973) you can register and insure the vehicle.
For some of the older three wheelers out there, the paper work is nowhere to be found and the cost and effort to get new papers probably isn't worth the effort. That means for those of us who ride old beaters, we have to either ride on private property with the owner's permission, or take a chance that you won't get caught riding somewhere where a valid registration might be required - for example, state land.
