Fuel Comsumption
#1
I have a 2002 Rubicon, have just started to ride the thing on trails (Hatfield & McCoy WV) My question is I had to switch my machine on Reserve at 39 miles today, Is this about right? I would have thought I could have got more mileage that that. I filled it up to the neck and added fuel till no more would go in. I weigh about 260 lbs so that has to hurt . Just wondering how much extra fuel I am going to need on some of these trails.
Thanks

yeah, that sounds a bit harsh. I have a rancher, a bit smaller machine and i weigh less, but i can still get in the mid 30's per gallon, and i have a 4 gallon tank, so i could be around 120 per tank or more on an easy ride. 40 per tank is pretty low.

I filled up the tank this morning and it took 2.7 gal. on reserve. That figures to about 14.8 mpg
My son had a Polaris 500 ATP and he was able to ride 53 miles before running out on the same trails and he said he has a smaller gas tank than mine. Anyone have any ideas why it is being such a pig? It seem to run OK
