Do you guys know if someone has made an aftermarket aluminum oil tank for the ds? I dont care if it mounts in the stock location. Im building a whole new drag chassis so i can mount it anywhere.

Many have tried to build an aftermarket oil tank, but many have failed.

I do know of 1 being run right now, but the bike is pulled to the staging lane, cranked and ran down the track, killed and someone pulls it back to the staging lane. It never runs any longer than a minute or so.

 

well that sucks guess ill have to build my own then. The only thing im wondering is if the oil tank has to mount higher than the motor so that gravity helps feed the motor with enough volume, or does the pump create enough suction to mount down lower. Dont want to burn the motor down do to lack of oil.

 

Others have tried to build their own as well. But have failed.

Why have they failed? building a tank is not a problem at all.....did it not work because of the feed issue or because of other reasons? That stock ds tank is a heavy monster....we need some aftermarket companys to get to work.
