Default tires for a 2004 sp 600

I am looking to get bigger tires for a little more ground clearance, Iam looking at either the maxxis mudbugs or the ITP mudlites how big can I go without hurting performance a whole lot or without installing a clutch kit I mostly ride hard packed trails but I do get into some pretty deep mud somtimes Thanks

i wouldnt go w/ anything bigger then 27" for sure. you just want to make sure you use low range in mud or when going though real rough trails slow so not to heat the belt up or make it slip.

Default tires for a 2004 sp 600

Hey Taker, I have 27x12x12 mudbugs on the back, and 27x10x12 on the fromt of my unlifted 2002 500 h.o, and Ill tell you it is awesome. Lots of ground clearance, and it goes like a tank. I just got the atv 2 wks ago but ive had enough of them to know how great this set up is in mud and on trails. Im running itp type 4s. I have k+n filter only, but im gonna be putting in a heelclicker clutch kit soon from the reviews it has gotten. Hope this helps.

The mudlites are a little lighter and just as good in the mud as the bugs, the big difference is on the trails, the design of the lites makes them very smooth and the few people i know running bugs say they are VERY rough on the trails because of the staggered lugs. I am run 27" lites and love them, currently about 1600km and 1/2 the tread left.

I have an 04 600 running 26's. I'm actually going down to 25" Pirelli Mudweisers because I also run mostly on good trails and I like the speed and agility. Going to 27's will slow you down unless you don't care about that.
For our bikes, I also put in a Dalton white primary clutch spring ($30) but they are supposed to be for stock size tires, so I wouldn't bother if you are going bigger.

have you rode a bike w/ those mudwisers on it? my friend has them on his 07' bf 750 and they suck on hard pack as they vibrate wicked. their very hard compound( he does very nice burn outs) but they work real good in the soft stuff as well as mud. his are 26" as well.

you could always put a lift in the bike if you dont want to go w/ too big of tires. just a thought.

As far as Mudweisers, I haven't read anything bad about them and they are 6-ply all around unlike the Mudlites which are only 6-ply on the carcus. Either or, it's what you like I guess.
