Ever since I bought my 07 rincon it has this engine tapping ( ticking ) noise when at idle. Get on it an go and it seems to go away. I have 200 miles now an it seems to be getting louder @ idle. Haven't took it for its 1st service yet.

Do you think it needs the valves adjusted?? Or it that how they are suppose to be sounding?

 

I believe you're hearing the compression release mechanism in the head. Mine did it at idle while in gear, and mostly went away when I put it in neutral. I's nothing to worry about.

 

It seems most Hondas I have ridden to make a little noise at idle. Assuming what you are hearing is just a soft ticking, I wouldn't worry about it.

Also, at 200 miles, yes, you should adjust the valves. My intakes were a touch loose at the first check... Make sure the lock nuts on the tie rods are tight while you are messing with it.

 

My 06 does the exact same thing even after the valve adjustment.
