a freind wants to sell me his or trade for what i got and im thinking of doing it is this a good bike i rode it an fells real strong but i dont know much about them lik how do they do in mud are they fast top end and how does that auto work how dependable

It would depend on what condition it is in of course. It is an air cooled machine, SRA, selectable 2 / 4WD but it doesn't have a front diff locker like the newer Yamaha utility machines. It would be stronger / faster than a rancher 350 sure, but it isn't really a speed demon. Top speed is probably around 60 or a little more. They can deal with some degree of mud but not like what an IRS machine that has the capability of locking all 4 wheels can do. The Yamaha's Ultramatic transmission is very dependable but you need to keep the snorkle (air and tranny intakes) out of harms way so you don't ingest any mud or water. Personally though I'd feel a little nervous about trading a nearly 10 year old machine for a nearly 5 year old Honda, but it's all in the upkeep and condition of both machines...
