Kazuma engine problems
#1
I bought my son a Falcon 110 and on the second time out, i think he siezed the engine. It would turn over but with strain and metal to metal noise. we took it back to the dealer we bought it from and he has had it since january and it's still not fixed. He told me it was the starter but when he finally replaced it, and it still wouldn't start, he then told me that we abused it too much. Can an 8 year old seriously abuse this thing to the point of seizure? We've only had this thing out twice and he only rode itout side our camp at Glamis

Sure, it's possible that the kid over reved it over and over to the point it floated a valve and ground the engine to a hault. It's easy to do if he downshifted to soon on a high traction surface, especially if the carb was set WAY too lean. It's still highly unlikely he could have caused so much engine damage as to locked it up so quickly. There should have been some warning.
Regardless, if the dealer is being an ***, the best way to get riding again quickly, is to check out ebay! I just saw a 9.5hp modified 110cc engine on ebay (like 50% more power than the stock one) for $200 shipped (from canada.) I asked the seller if he has them often and he said yes. I would check out ebay for a week or two and try to get a deal on a replacement engine. You shouldn't have to pay more than $250 ($200 is more reasonable.) You will have to move the carb from your kazuma to this one and ask the dealer what size jets to use (or have a shop do it.)
The situation sucks, but almost all the 110cc engines should bolt right in, so it shouldn't be too hard. At least you won't have to buy a new quad. If you bought from Raceway, he would have given you a 6 month warrantee on the engine. Maybe he can also sell you an engine to replace it. That would be the first place I checked.

Sand! These engines do not like to run in the sand.Replaced the engine and it did the same thing except I knew what to listen for this timeand shut it down before it ceased. I bought a Honda 90 engine for it now we will see how that works
