Trailblazer Throttle Stuck Wide Open
#1
I fianlly got the Tb put back together. It starts and runs, but now the throttle cable is sticking. When I press down on the thumb throttle on the right hand side of the handle bars the throttle will stick wide open. I can pull the cable back down by the motor, but it will do the same thing once I hit the throttle. I sprayed some WD-40 and it didn't help, so there must be something I screwed up when putting it back together. Any ideas?

did you put the spring back in the slide in the carb? it would be between the cap and the slide about 6" long. make sure its not blinding anywhere as well.

I'll check the carb out after work today. I know I put the spring back in. It hadn't been doing this before I put it all back together last night. I ran it a few days back just to make sure it was working, but all that was on there was the frame, wheels, engine, tranny, and gas tank lol.

I took everything apart again today. I checked the carb and everything "SEEMS" to be good. I was able to make it so the throttle no longer stick open, but here's the fun part: It idles all the way up by itself the second I turn it on. I messed with the idle screw, but it didn't change anything. How do I adjust the throttle cable or what elese do you think it could be?

when you took this apart did you take the cap off the cable orunscrew the cable in any way? what you should do first is to make sure the slide is going all the way down in the carb before trying to adjust the idle.

I checked the carb and found that the slide is sticking. I tried messing with the nut on top of the cap and was able to get the throttle to work properly for a little while, but then it started to stick again. What happens is that when I press the throttle, the slide goes all the way up and then about 1/2 of the way back down. If I just let it sit there for a minute or two it will eventually go all the way back down. if I press the throttle again it will do the same thing. I'm confused. I don't know what I screwed up. I'm just glad this didn't happen in the woods and I end up getting a face full of tree.

The spring is fine, it acutally looks fairly new. When I pressed the throttle I watched throttle cable go up through the carb, get hung up, and then not go back down. It's hard to explain.
