05 Sportsman 500 Dead
#1
I have a 2005 Sportsman 500. I got on it today, turned the key, and absolutely nothing happened (no lights, no LED screen,... nothing). I thought maybe the battery was totally dead, so I hooked-up a battery charger for an hour, but still nothing when I turn the key (no lights, no LED screen,...). This seemed very strange to me because I just finished riding it 2 hours before this happened, and everything was just fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what may have went wrong? Is there a fuse somewhere that may have blown? Is this make and model notorious for suddenly going dead, and a certain part needs replaced?
I appreciate your comments and suggestions on how to fix it. I thought I would ask you guys and girls before I hauled it to the dealer.
Thank you

not sure, but if you follow the batterycables there might be a fuseable link in the line. make sure you have all good connections and no corrosion. make sure kill switch isnt on or messed up as well.

Thank guys. I have a few questions:
1.) Does anyone know what (or where can I find out) the V.I.N. numbers were affected by this recall.
2.) Where is the surfire module/ECM?
3.) How much does the surfire module/ECM cost?
I'm thinking about replacing the surfire module/ECM (if it's not to much) and taking the chance that is what the problem is. I assume you can't return it once purchased?
Thank you

all 05 500 SPs were in the range, ur dealer will test it for free, and the module is under the recall that is free replacemnt and labour allowance. It is most defiantly the surpower module...get it replaced soon, u should unhook the groundcable, they are known to short out inside the module and possibly catch fire
