Default Honda Recon 2001 charging troubles

I have replaced the battery three times in the past few months on my Recon. The current battery will start the Recon right up when fully charged but over time, you will eventually only get some clicking when trying to start. When this happens, pull starting will fire the quad right up and recharging the battery will work too. What charges the battery on these quads and do you guys have any ideas of any checks to make to find the culprit.

Thanx,

Jerry

Sounds like a problem in the charging system...not the batteries. Could be that your stator is dying....they usually go out gradually and that can fool you.

Any idea how much one costs and is it easy to get to?

It should be easy to test the stator output. Get a service manual and see what all is involved.

If it is the stator going, even the pull starter won't work when it finally goes completely....
