Just curious if anyone else has seen this, I've done a search but didn't find anything relevant.

Recently developed a bad clunking noise in the front end. It only happens with the wheels turned full lock left and when giving gas from a standstill and then immediately letting off the gas. Sounds like it's coming from the right side but could be the center. The front end rises as I accelerate and then drops when letting off the gas and the clunking starts. It's a rotating noise almost like a stick in the wheel. Noise occurs in 4wd or 2wd and is quite loud, not just a tick.

The noise happens only in the exact situation described. CV joints seem fine, no torn boots, no clicking during normal operation and the 4wd works fine.

I've taken it to the local dealer as it should be covered under warranty but they wouldn't commit to that until they diagnose the problem.

Any suggestions?

maybe the roller cage is starting to brake. i would make sure they know if it finally breaks they will cover under warr. right.

 

i have heard the same problem on mines as well as my brothers. Tookem both back to the dealer and they changed my bottom boots in the front and said nothin was wrong. they said that my brothers was fine also. I have not heard the sound since. I still got three years of fac warnnty, my brother do not.
both are 06's
