Default Quad for my 3 1/2 yr old

I am looking for some advice on a quad for my son. He is 3 1/2. I want something that he can grow on and get use out of. I just got a 2007 eton viper 90 for free and I don't know if it will be to much for him. The shop is putting it together as we speak and he hasn't been on it yet. Any words of wisdom will be awesome.
Thanks!

That's too much machine for a 3.5 year old in my opinion.

Has he had any experience on a battery powered ATV yet? That's a safe way to expose him to the basic operation of such a machine. If not, I would NEVER give him a gasoline powered machine as his first experience. It's just too easy for him to get into trouble too fast.

Start with a battery powered one. Then consider a 50cc used machine with lots of restrictions in place to keep the speed under control.

My 5YO has been riding his 50cc for almost a year now, is very good on it, and has excellent judgement for his age - yet it will be several years before he will be ready for a 90cc engine. Go very, very conservatively when working with fueled engines and small children.

he has a battery powered ATV right now. We got it for him last summer. He also has a battery powered pocket bike that he rides with no problem. He is bored with the ATV he has now. I don't know if the dealer will take the 90 in trade or not. I guess I will just have to hold on to it. Thanks!

i started my son at 2 1/2 on a battery quad and by winter he was on a 40 eton and then at 4 we put him on a 70 eton and he has been racing that on every since he races in the 90 cc class there are 17 kids in that class and he beats all of them in the first 2 to 3 laps then starts to fall behind to the 90 s so even if they seem to have the skill hold them back awhile to let them get used to what they are doing (pian goes away scares heal, but fear will stay with you for a life time)

I am not a fan of getting a bike the kid "will grow into". I have a Kazuma 50 that my 7 year old has been riding since he was 5. It still enough bike for him, but he has about outgrown it at 7 years old. I've got his little brother riding it now. Started him out last fall, he had just turned 3. He is 3 1/2 now and we do some light trail riding with him now.

Where are you located at? I might be interested in the 90, if you are close enough and decide to sell it.

The meerkat 50 is a great little quad for a starter quad.

framed 8x10 glossy,

thats the only quad a 3 year old should be near! this seems like the very reason the govt seems to think it needs to get involved and set minimum ages for atv's . parents need to act responsible and wait until hand eye cordination and hand strength are safe for a kid to ride an atv usually around 6
3 is way too young
ofcourse that is just my opinion

I bought my son a Meerkat 50 when he was 3yrs and 4 months old. It's a great starter ATV. I wouldn't waste my time with a battery powered ATV as you will spend more time charging the battery than your son riding. The Meerkat 50 has a throttle governor which can be adjusted so that he doesn't have full throttle. Leave it in first gear and you can hook up a dog leash to the kill switch on the back. Walk behind him with the leash attached and if he gets into trouble kill the engine by pulling on the leash. My son picked it up in a few hours of riding and now he is 4 1/2 and rides like a pro.
