Quad for my 3 1/2 yr old
#11
A 90-cc is way too much for any 3.5yr old!! My 3.5 yr old son is currently on a bone stock Suzuki LTZ-50 4-stroke. It fits him perfect and he has a blast on it. He did start out on an electric quad at 2yr so has some experice prior. The good thing about the LTZ is that in stock form it only tops out at 8MPH. Fast enough to keep him entertained without me having to worry too much. When he gets old enough to pull the brakes a little better I'll take out the CVT spacer and it will top out at 15MPH. SHould be good for at least another 1-2 yrs beyond that before I step him up to a larger bike.
I only have two complaints about the LTZ
1) Needs a foot brake. At 3.5yr he still does not have the strength in his hands to pull the hand brakes.
2) This damn thing is still a red sticker bike in CA. I'm a little bitter about this one.

framed 8x10 glossy,
thats the only quad a 3 year old should be near! this seems like the very reason the govt seems to think it needs to get involved and set minimum ages for atv's . parents need to act responsible and wait until hand eye cordination and hand strength are safe for a kid to ride an atv usually around 6
3 is way too young
ofcourse that is just my opinion</end quote></div>
If you saw my 3.5yr old ride his 50cc you might think otherwise. The only reason ATV manufacurers post 6yr old to save their butts from lawsuits. There is no reason a 3-4yr old cant ride a 50cc that fits them properly. I don recommend however starting out on an electric model before gas. Putting them on anything larger than 50cc is irrasponsible parenting in my opinion.

DSengineer, the thing that bothers me about posts like yours..And believe me I respect your right as a parent to decide if your kid is ready to ride. The thing I worry about is the parent who reads your post and now thinks their 3.5 yr old can ride just as well. There are some kids who at 15 arent capable of riding a ATV safely.

dsengineer if you read your own post you your self say your son at 3.5 cant pull the handbrake and you think it should have a foot brake , maybe thats telling you somthing your not hearing .. if they cant work the brakes in an emergency situation whats he suppose to do put his feet down?, bale off?, or maybe thats like that for a reason , i have a son who's nine he rides a 90 and does great .. he could tho ride my 400 scrammy, all auto, any moron or infant can push the gas and go but he can't work the brakes or control the machine. kinda like putting a 3.5 year old on a motorized atv even a 50 when they are'nt ready (like not enuff strength to properly brake or push the hot pipe off their leg in a wreck) thats where the responsible parent thing comes in

Interesting post, my son is 2 1/2 and he is already climbing onto my KFX 400 and has figured out all the steps to start it. Scary, I know. I'm looking at getting him his own quad in the next year or so, he has the battery versions and has lost interest. My question is, has any body had any experience with these : http://www.mybigtoystore.net - my instinct here tells me the lack of suspension is not a good thing. Any advice helpful
