2002 Grizzly Oil / Maintenance
#1
I got my grizzly used and put 200 or so miles on it so far. What kind of oil should I use? I know I can buy the yamaha brand one, but that's far too expensive. Is there any kind I can buy at walmart? Second of all, what kind of maintenance should I be doing now that it has ~1400 miles on it?

Ya you can buy any type of motor oil . 5w 30, 10w 30, 10w 40, 20w 40. Yamalube what a scam. You should also check the clutch, the belt, and your front and rear differentials. Use 80-90w hypoid type gear oil. Grease your fittings also. Good luck

NO you cant use just any oil!!! You must use oil without friction modifiers. Regular car oil has it and your wet clutch will slip. You can get ATV or Motorcycle oil at walmart. Why be cheap on 2 quarts of oil when so much is depending on it? $8.00 a quart for syntheic oil is a small price to pay for good insurance. Do a search on here and listen to Rangerrecons advice

good oil is your best friend on wet clutch plus high rev machines, I use mobil 1 synthetic oil 10w30,holds up well, easy shifting..But I still change after about 7-10 rides, depending on miles..
Plus every 4 changes change your oil filter..
