Carlisle AT489, Dunlop KT407, or an ITP Mudlite
#1
Trying to decide which one of these to buy to replace the tires on my 07 Wolverine 450. I need to hear from people who have ridden machines with these tires on them over hard terrain in order to help me in deciding which would be the better tire to purchase.

What kind of terrain do you ride on the most?
Of the three that you mentioned I like the AT489's the best, however there are others that may serve you better and maybe even cost you less.
The AT489 is a good general purpose trail tire
Forget the Dunlops - I hate them - lol, they are ok nothing special
The Mudlites (depends which model you get) the AT are not too impressive about the only one that is pretty good is the "XTR" radial (expensive), The XL are geared more for playing in the mud (but not a true hardcore mud tire) but you may not get good results on other turf. None of the ITP tires impress me too much.
One of the best all around tires are 'Dirt Devils', I really like the Duro "Buffalo" also a very good all around tire. GoodYear "Rawhide Grip" and the "Rawhide AT" are very good tires and have 3/4" tread depth.
Obviously I like what I have on my machine or they would not be there. I run MudGear on the front (very similar to Dirt Devils but deeper tread and more agressive side lugs) and I run MudCats on the back which have 1" tread on a 25" tire. Both work good on about any type of turf. Both are 6ply tires and are smooth on hard surfaces. Oh, and yes they will sling a lot of mud...

Well I live in NY so serious swamping isn't something I do all the time. A little mud here and there but nothing like people ride in down South. 40% of the time we ride on hard pack washed out rocky trails, another 40% of the time the trails are typical trail dirt, or grass. So an aggressive tire isn't that necessary, but I need run that isn't going to bounce over the rocks like the Maxxis that are on it. The side walls are too stiff and while it helps it slide around a little, they give a harsh ride and the rear of the machine is usually bouncing in the air almost as much as the are on the ground. I lowered tthe air down to 5lbs but hardly makes a difference. Need to find more tires in 23X10-12 sizes. So far I've only found those few, it's a relatively odd size.

well this link says.. http://www.americanmototire.co...n-us&target=d418.html
AT 489
THE TIRE OF CHOICE FOR ENTHUSIASTS WHO WANT A SMOOTH RIDE
ROUND PROFILE ENHANCES STEERING CHARACTERISTICS
COMBINES HIGH TRACTION, GOOD SHOCK ABSORPTION, AND EXCELLENT STABILITY
AT489 FEATURES PROPORTIONALLY SPACED BAR LUGS TO PROVIDE INCREASED TRACTION
kinda what you are looking for..

Yeah that's what she needs, a tire that's less performance orientated and smooths out the bumpy rocky terrain a little better. I don't want to put a latger tire because as far as I'm concerned, it isn't all that powerful to begin with and would hate make the motor work anymore than it already it. I'm thinking the old Dunlops might be a good choice too though.
