What's the deal with Dunlop Tires
#1
What's the Deal with the dunlops on the Kodiaks. I mean, well, let me explain. I'v heard lot's about how great aftermarket muders are, and that the dunlops are crap.
Well, please! will someone please explain what's so wrong with the stock dunlop tires. I have a 1999 Kodiak and I've done some close examination witth mine and the 2001 model and have notice that the tread pattern has changed a bit. Is it only these new tires that are no good or do you all think that the 1999 tires were no good either.
• I am mostly a trail rider, my tires will soon need replacing and until I read here in the forums, I was going to put new dunlops back on. I don't have any experience with any other tires but for me the dunlops seem excellent for high speed riding, have pritty good traction, have taken tones of abuse over various types of terrain, and have never got a flat even afer riding a lot of ruuged rock. So can anyone persuaed me into purchasing another tire that will perform better than these. What can I look for to saticfy myself that the dunlops are no good.
Can any one help?
Thanks for you reply's

FNKA is right, there's really nothing wrong with the stock tires, though you can probably replace them with a different tire that will be just as good, but alot cheaper.
If you do mostly trail riding around Whitby you would not be happy with most of the mud tires that you read about on forums like these. They may be alot better for the kind of mudding that people in the southern US do, but don't get a set for the type of riding you do. They are much rougher, heavier and wear faster.
The reason that people complain about the stock Dunlaps is that the Dunlaps are an all purpose tire, and are not meant to excell in the mud.
Personally I have no complaint with the Dunlops on my Wolverine, and actually I have one set of 23's for playing around, and a set of 25's for the winter. I think they offer good traction, wear well, and I have yet to get a flat. (knock on wood)
