oh i have to throw my 2 cents in. past few times i took the bowels of my carbs on my raptor, i always strip a head on 1 of the 8 bolts. there lug nuts are just as bad too. i think yamaha uses old recycled coat hangers on there nuts and bolts.

Half the bolts on my Wolverine came from John Deere. Deere uses very high quality zinc plated, grade 10.9, flange head bolts on all their engines. Somehow these bolts keep following me home from work. One of the perks of being a heavy equipment mechanic...

There is something most people forget when it comes to phillips screws, they do have sizes. Just because the screw driver feels tight doesn't mean its the correct size. Just like if you use a 12 point 13mm on a 1/2 inch bolt. I have a case with about 40 sizes of phillips screw driver heads. The correct size used in a socket wrench always does a perfect job. You ever try to take the clutch cover off a 30 year old bike with a hand screw driver? It doesn't work. Anyone who has worked on ATV/Bike motors for more than a few years should have a large set of phillip head sockets.
