Frustration at its finest!!!!!

OK lets see... back in April I took my 2007 Rubicon in because i thought i had a bad angle sensor. I was on vacation in North Caralina and the dealership out there told me it wasn't the ANgle sensor but that it was the ECU so they ordered and ECU and alas... that wasn't the case. They replaced the D1,D2, ESP switch, some other neutral switch, and the shift motor, as well as the angle sensor and ECU. Still broken.
So i got back to TN and and took it up to Abernathy's on May 9th. They told me my wiring harness was jacked up and as a result i would again need a new ECU. So they ordered the parts and put them on the quad. They blew up the new ECU. After some continued troubleshooting they found that shift motor was indeed bad and they replaced it along with another ECU. I picked it up on June 1st and of course that very same night i took her out. After about 2 hours of riding the Gear Indicator D1, D2, ESP started flashing and she started sputtering in reverse again... which were the original indications. Now i have to take it back up there, which is an hour and half away... all a big pain in the ***. Even though it has all been covered under warranty.
Now here is what i am wondering. I have had this quad for 3 months and half of that time it has been broken. Is there anyway i can get Honda to give me a new quad?? Some sort of lemon law here in TN that anyone knows about??? Or any policy that honda has in regards to continueing to drop money into something like this. I mean they have already spent $1500 in parts alone on this thing and i have no idea how much they have spent in labor. Any input would be extremely helpful

i would write honda themselves. they are a company that stands by there stuff, i have always had good luck with them, try that first. i just bought a new rubicon myself and it is flawless so far. good luck.

got it up to Abernathy's yesterday and they said it is the angle sensor again... very frustrating... but they also said that it could be a residual fault from when the wiring harness was bad... my frustration continues...

well, i have had exp. on problems like this when buying a car. in fact my BMW Z3 spent the first 6 months i owned it in the shop for air bag problems and sensors. almost 4k went into my car before i got it back (paid 20k for it) then 2 days after i got it back i got rear ended. . .took a month to repair it. . .got it back and 2 weeks later a dude lost his brakes in the parking lot and rammed it right in the side. . .2 months after that i finally got my car back for the last time. . .i am almost sure that everything has been replaced now.
moral of the story stick it out and eventually everything will be fixed, if it is not then i am sure that honda will give you another quad. . .specially once that one's repairs get up near where the cost of the quad was.

There is something to be said for simplicity! Never had any of those problems with any of the two dozen or so manual shift machines I have owned over the years........

Hi, I have had sort of the same problem...
I have an 05 Ruby that hase been in the shop (Abernathy's) 9 times for Angle sensors... Got to admit Honda is still backing the angle senors and my extended warranty has been long gone.
I too have an hour and a half drive to Abernathy's.
The last two times it was in the shop they changed along with the angle sensor...the Motor assembly Control and put a new wiring harness on it. I have about 70 miles on the latest angle sensor ....so I guess time will tell if they did any good.
Mike at Abernathy's told me to call this # 1-866-784-1870 and log a problem with Honda. I asked to talk to Jason everytime I called the number... He either calls me back or is there to help me get it back in the shop where Honda picks up the bill. I have yet to pay a nickle....
Hope this helps and you get it going...It's a rotten feeling when you know it probably won't make the entire ride when your out with your friends.
Keep posting what honda does... I would like to know... See ya and good riding...

wooden shoes are cheaper, more reliable, and more simple than rubber soled ones, you going to start wearing them too? (don't, we had a Dutchman wear some to work one day to prove they were great, he was crying by lunch - it was hilarious!!)

The point is that someone thinking of purchasing one of these will read this post and consider if this machine is something they can live with. Plus, we have someone else saying they also had "sort of the same problem". It's the good, the bad, and sometimes the ugly. Read about it here in the forum and learn folks....
All you had to offer is a "that sucks"......

and what did you add ranger? another dig on the more advanced and better performing transmission options? zip it, would you? Stop trolling for electrical issues. (or crying about weight)
yeah that sucks, but I can't say I can help because none of the people I ride with that have ES or Rincons or Rubicons ever had a problem with the electronics. my advice is to keep after honda, what was your advice to him? K.I.S.S.?
did you see that post about the foot shift that failed? couple guys new exactly what was wrong as it has happened before. So it is not infallable. even so, given the ratio of manual to ES, you are going to have more occurences of ES problems, but that does not mean the rate of occurences is unacceptable.
by the way, there are no manual utes only auto-clutched utes, so what are you talking about with a dozen manuals?
