Please some help! I just purchased a TC Racing full exhaust, Sparks Air Filter kit and the package also came with 1 Replacement Needle and 175 Main Jets....I got everything on exhaust , Air filter kit...but cannot seem to locate exctly where to put the needle and jets? I have my whole bike apart(trx450er) starring right at the carb...i removed the top lid and saw a screw type thing but wasnt sure so i closed the lid and didnt touch anything, then i took the side lid off the carb and also didnt see a place for the needle or jets? Where is the main jet located? and is this needle replacement going in straight or sideways? Please, ANY advice will help!!
If i do not do the jets will i be ok ridding with only the exhaust and filter kit (box lid off) ??

What kind of carb do you have? Mikuni, Keihin?
I would suggest getting a shop manual.
The main jets are at the bottom of your carb in the float bowl. There may be more than one jet there, starter jet, pilot jet and main jet, the main jet geneerally is in the middle of the carb and would line up vertally with the needle on your slide.
If the company sent you larger jets then put them in. Running lean will cause serious engine damage to the point of a melt down (hole in the piston, burnt valves, welded rings - not a pretty picture). The thing about a melt down is that the bike will be running fine and screaming fast and within a couple seconds - big bucks for repairs.
Even though this is not appblicable to your Honda this is a good article to read....

Thanks man! i actually just finished it this afternoon...i kinda just went with it and figured it out. I had to play with the fuel screw alot man to get it dialed in right. Now i don't even need my choke when i start(it was a HARD HARD start "stock") I put the 175 Main jet and turned the fuel screw 3.5 turns out from the bottom. Then topped it off with a Yamaha Adjustable needle, oh and by the way, it is a Keihin carb.
You kinda scared me a bit though about this "Running too lean" What more can i do to make sure im not running too lean? I mean i did everything they told me to do. Jets, needles etc. The only thing that im not happy about is the "Fuel Screw" I played with it and played with it, and just got scared so i put it back to the way it was "stock" and just turned it back 1 time so it's in between what Honda set it at and what Janssen advised me to set it at. How will i know if im running too lean? I just put everything in and it seems fine but like you said in seconds...big bucks...i dont like that hahaha.

3.5 turns out was actually perfect in my case. When i first put on the exhaust and filter kit, i didn't touch the fuel screw at all...... Just the Main jet was replaced, and the Yamaha needle was replaced up top. As far as the fuel screw, it was all the way to the bottom. She rode great and all seemed fine but wasnt kicking like it should in 1st and 2nd gear. It was crazy fast and powerful in 3rd, 4th & 5th though! I just turned the fuel screw out 3.5 from the bottom out and it made a huge huge difference! all that lost power in 1st and 2nd gear was now matching up to the power in 3rd, 4th & 5th. And i must say....i finally know what the term "scary fast" means
