Questions regarding a 92 Trailboss 350L 4x4
#1
I just bought 2 92-93 Trailboss 350L 4x4's and have some questions. Maybe some of you guys can help me out. This is my 1st quad and 1st polaris! I have owned many different dirt bikes. Anyways Im putting a wesico pistion kit in because the old one was toasted. Should i replace the water pump at the same time? I found some milky oil in the counter balance. Also is there a drain plug for the counter balance? Anyone know what the plug on the top of the recoil started is for and should it have oil in it. If so what flavor? 1 more, does the 4x4 on these bike work like the new ones in respect to the rear tires have to spin a little bit before the front kick in? Thats it for now. ANY answers or thoughts would be very helpful I think with both bikes I can build one strong Trailboss. Thanks

One other thing i thought of last night. Can you leave the oil injection hooked up and mix the gas, just not putting any oil in the tank. Im not sure if the injection is working correctly. OR anyone know how to test the injection pump. Thanks again. The polaris rookie !

OK, I just bought a haynes repair manual for my new toy. I figured out where the drain plug for the counter balance was and what the plug on the recoil starter assembly is for. If any one cares to know the drain for the counter balance is a little bolt on the bottom of the engine right near the starter. It did not look like a drain plug because its much smaller then the tranny plug and just threw me off. The plug on the recoil assembly is mabye a drain for the flywheel and misc compents but no fluid goes in there it DRY. Its just there in case you bury it in some deep water i guess. I pretty sure im gonna pull the water pump out and replace the seals/o rings or whatever is in there. I dont wanna take any chances with this motor rebuild. If anyone has any feedback on my project that might make this rebuild any easier it would be very helpful. Also I still am not sure about the 4 wheel drive system on these 90's Trailboss 350L. HELP. Thanks.

if your going to mix your gas, i would unhook the injection andput a block off kit in it. im ammusing the older style awd is the same way to spin 1/5 of a turn to engage it but its only my guess. good luck w/ it.

I could take some pics if you want but its really easy to find. its on the bottom on the engine case right above the starter, it looks like a 10mm bolt head but its a banjo style drain plug. The fill is on the front of the motor to the left of the oil injection pump if you standing in front of the bike looking at it. Its a 14mm or 9\16 bolt head and its pretty easy to get to. I just removed all the crap in the way of the water pump today so I can replace the seals and bearings in the counter balance area. I found out that a harmonic balance puller at Kragen Auto Parts for 14.99 works great to pull the flywheel assembly. You just have to buy some longer bolts that will screw into the flywheel. It looked pretty clean in there no rust but the oil was very milky. the bearing and seal on the water pump was the problem though so I am just gonna replace all the bearings and seals in there. Looks like I got some work ahead of me but I dont mind. By the time im done rebuilding this beast I will have only invested around 350 bucks, considering i bought 2 complete 350L's for $180.00. Now thats my kind of quad. When I have my house paid off and am debt free I will buy myself a brand new Polaris but for now i have to buy cheap broken toys and fix them. Its a fun hobby (sometimes) ! Anyways post more as i slowly move along on this project.
