Well, I took it to the limit, and a little bit further, and I lived to tell the tale

My wife stole my camera from me today, or I would have some pictures for you guys. I went completely nuts on the quad today. I was in 2' deep water/mud at one point. The quad and I were both completely covered in mud. The shrouded K&N Airfilter + a new $20 rain suit from walmart is what started it all. =)
The only time I managed to get my air filter wet was when I hit a 9" deep, very long puddle at 40+mph. the v-shaped spray from the right wheel shot straight up into the cover on the K&N. I definately need an airbox because getting soaking wet and muddy was the most fun I've had in a long time.
I'm going to talk to a friend tomorrow about putting something together, but I'm still unsure how to route the air. It would be easier to do a snorkle than an airfilter. The easiest way we can find to do a snorkle is to go straight out the back and up with a mount on the flag-mount. I don't like the idea of having the air filter up so high though. Some of the trails I do make me duck and dodge branches, so it wouldn't be cool to have it up too high.
Anyway, I had a complete ball today on my Jetmoto and I wanted everyone to know! =)

Believe it or not, the place that gets the least wet is right under the speedometer, that is unless you are sitting chest deep in water, and at that point your ATV probably would be floating and you wouldn't be going anyplace anyway. Running some rubber hoses could be an idea.
Go to the Arctic Cat forum and look up 'Air-jetting', it may give you some ideas.

With a snorkle, you can go into deeper water than with an airbox. I don't know exactly what I'm going to do right now. If I can do an elegant snorkle routed to the body right above the front fender, I'll do that. Otherwise, I just deal with a splash shield / airbox. lexan or another type of plastic + epoxy makes it easy to do an airbox.
