what is the most HOURS anyone has seen or had on a 500 polaris? i found a good buy on a ranger with 980 hours. how many hours is too many

 

My dads 97 Sportsman 500 run like the day it was new with 7300 miles,it has no hour meter so I,m not sure how long it took to gather those miles.

 

i think alot of it depends on how is was serviced and how it was run so its hard to tell. looks of the bike has alot ot do w/ if its been beat up or not. sounds like it has a few thousand miles on it.

 

a guy i worked with had a honda foreman since new, and 2 years later he had 2000 hours and 5000 miles on it.... and it still ran like new. ... if you take care of them they can go for a while.

 

my 500ho scrammy has 265 hours on it & it runs like new.
oil & filter changes, air filter maint. & valve clearance adj.
are some of the big things. On a ranger some of the hours
could be idle & low speed hours. also was it ever overheated?

 

Just over 20,000 miles on my 98 SP500 when the speedo quite two years ago. On average quads will run 10-12 miles/hour.
