Default New Jetmoto 110 Questions

I'm a new member so I hope this is the proper location for my questions. I'm long winded but here goes.

I just bought a new 2007 Jetmoto 110 for my 8 1/2 year old son. He's on the small side but experienced. He's been riding a 1985 Suzuki LT50 since he was 4. He was ready for a bigger quad and I'm not spending an arm and leg on a major brand. Anyway, I did my research and decided on the Jetmoto 110. I'm a reasonably competent backyard mechanic. Ordered it and received with no problems. Took me 2 nights to thoroughly assemble and go over everything. Went together smoothly. No issues that I'm aware of.

Loctited all screws, replaced spark plug with NGK, fired right up and idled for 30 minutes. Replaced oil with Castrol 10W40. Putted around and am going to replace oil again tonight as there was still some original mixed in.

I have a few questions to help me fine tune it before handing it off to the munchkin.

1. Steering. I "calibrated" the wheels for toe-in and aligned everything as best I could. At issue is turning radius. Turns too tight to the left and not enough to the right. I found this out late last night and I'm going to look at making adjustments tonight but I'd like any input on correcting this so I can bypass the "learning curve". I have everything centered from the handlebars down to the tie rods. I have the shocks adjusted as soft as possible. Any thoughts.

2. Carburetor. I adjusted idle slightly and it runs smooth. I will be making screw adjustments tonight to fine tune. My problem was the lower back drain line. It just drips gas so I zip-tied it to the frame above level with the carb. I know this is a short term quick fix. Any suggestions on problem and correction?

3. Power. 1st gear has sufficient power. 2nd and especially 3rd are very lacking as it bogs down. My thought is that carb adjustments might solve this. Is there anything else I should look at to remedy this. Clutch? The quad rolls easily so it's not a brake issue.

4. Chain. I'll be loosening the chain tonight as well. Any tricks to help with this.

Misc. questions.

1. Air filter. I'm going to source finding an air filter that is better then the POS that came with it. In the mean time I shot it with air filter oil. My question is that there isn't much access for air to enter the air filter cavity. I drilled about 50 very small (less then 1/8") holes in the plastic cover that seals the filter to allow for more air but no large objects. Smart idea or should I seal those back up?

2. Brakes. The rear disc brake didn't initially work but I believe it is working it out. Can I bleed the air? Front Drum brakes do OK but don't grab like I'd like. I can adjust at the handle but then it's too stiff for my son to pull. Is there any adjustments I can make without making the handle too hard to pull?

A few other small issues such as the bolt to hold down the seat in front wasn't even close to tall enough to latch the seat front so I'll get another. Beyond that, overall I think it will fit the bill for the type of riding we do as a family. I actually expected more problems then I've come across based on all the information I've read regarding Chines quads.

I think that's enough to get the ball rolling.

I look forward to any input.

Thanks.

Default New Jetmoto 110 Questions

Welcome to the forum mac-it!

Let me try as best I can to give you some answers

1) I would assume that the steering stop is bent a little, allowing more turning to the left then the right. That is assuming you do have the steering centered. If its the stering stop a "adjustment" with a hammer will most likely work.

2)I would wait until you get a hour or so to see if the carb is still leaking. particles from the gel pac can cause this.

3)I have setup a few 110's and carb adjustment was critical to power output. Usually opening the fuel screw a 1/2 turn or so helps.

4) I would adjust it so you have about 1/2" of chain movement. and the chain will wear more in the first few rides than in the next dozen or so rides.

Misc ?
1) i like the hole idea.

2) Yes the brakes can be bled just like a car/truck. Usually the better the brakes work the harder it will be to pull in the lever.

Thanks!

I'll take a look at the steering stop and double check the alignment tonight.

Everything you answered is much appreciated.

Forgot one thing.....The rear shock is pretty soft. I don't see any potential adjustment to this shock. Anyway to stiffen it up slightly? You have probably seen what I beleive is a newer design where the shock is angled more then the older version but I think it's still the exact same shock as your pink ones. (I took at look at your pics).

Oh, by the way, I've been glancing at atv connection for some time and never had a reason to sign up till now. I've read many of your responses to other owners and let me say that your information and method of communicating this info has been outstanding.

Take care.

Turns out I've got some mod's to do to the front end. One of the arms is not welded square so the left tire is forward compared to the right. I think I can make it work though.

New problem.
Dead Battery. Battery went dead overnight. I double checked that the key was pulled and all switches were off. I'm assuming I need to snip a wire.

Anybody have this problem and can help me identify. I'm definitely not an electrical person unfortunately.
