Need help w. 90 Baja
#1
We own a BMS 250, our first purchase some months ago. We know its not brand name and all, but its done us well so far.
This past Sat, 2 days ago on the 30th of June we got my nephew a 90 Baja for his bday at a auction. We failed to notice there was no ignition switch. We found 1, just one at the store we got our BMS at however my father believes its broken.
We got home Sat and he put the switch on, the engine turns, the small screen that says how fast your going goes on, and the lights turn on. However it wont start. We knew it would have some issues being a auction.
We're leaving tomorrow for a trip and had hoped to get it fixed by the time we left so we could take it with, but seems like all is against us taking it with us.
Ive looked around for other shops in the area but none have iginition switches for a Baja 90.
So this is why I ask about anyone in phx. To see if anyone in phx knows of somewhere we could drive to and pick a switch up.
Or if anyone has any ideas what the problem might be if not the switch? My dad is a mechanic of cars, not ATVs, but he says that there is no power going to the starter I think he said, and basically there is just power to the engine that lets it make the turning noise.
My thought is if it was the switch then wouldnt it not work at all? Not let the engine turn?
Thanks.

There is a starter solonoid on the left hand side of the bike below the gas tank.It has two large red wires on the top side of it held down with nuts..If you turn on the key and touch a screw driver across the two nuts it should start up..If your dad is a mechanic he may have done this on some older ford cars.

that was one of the first things that we did. With the key on I jumpered the solenoid and the starter whirred over just fine but to no avail. It wouldn't fire and when we pulled the plug and laid it on the head to see if there was spark- there was not.
So i figure there is power in there, it's just not coming out of the sparkplug...
