Default After market parts & resale pricing

I am looking for a sport quad. I see many out there for sale from '00 on up to '07, from bone stock to fully dressed racing machines.

But the prices seem to stay within a fairly narrow range. starting at say '04 they range from $3500 on the low end to $6500 on the high end. The pricing seems to be what the owner preceived value is. Or at least what they owe on it...

So my queston is, Does one usually eat the cost of the add ons when it comes time to sell? It seems like they do given what I am seeing.

Is there an accepted list of add-ons that pretty much everyone has or wants?

From my reading it starts with these:

New Pipe
Airbox & filter
Jetting
Cam timing (not really and add-on)

Then you move to suspension & frame components
Then on to the motor

Obviously engine mods will effect reliablity in some manner, great or small. Are there other mods like suspension or shock mods that effect reliabilty?
