Man do I like to hang wheelies. I mean I REALLY like to hang WHEELIES. Unfortunately my raptor and I don't share a mutual admiration in this area. I should say that it power wheelies alright, 1st through 5th no problem given the space. But when the bike is straight up at the balance point it sputters like it is running out of fuel. Oh, and that reminds me it does the same thing when landing from jumps. At times it will stall upon landing from a jump. Seeing as how I was really looking forward to jumping and hanging up some big wheelies on my raptor when I shelled out $6500 for it, this stalling problem left me rather discouraged. After doing some research it seems that yamaha was aware of this problem before the raptor was delivered for sale. I would be willing to guess that someone from yamaha checks up on the feedback in this forum and if they don't, well, they should. If someone from yamaha does happen to read this post, I would sure appreciate a reply letting me know if there is a fix for this problem or even if they are trying to find a cure fore it. My few calls to yamaha customer service have been a waste of time. If anyone else has experienced this problem please complain about it so we can get it fixed. Brendan yambike1@aol

mine does the same damn thing, hit a jump landed and it stalled, I thought it was just me, hit the jump again, landed and it stalled again! pisses me off to for so much cash. My guess is that there is no splash guards around the mains? (like on a banshee)

I don't have that kind of problem. I do wheelies pretty often and jump railroad tracks as well with no problems. Hope you find the cure for your coughing Raptor.

Haven't had problem with mine, perhaps I don't ride it hard enough.

Look here for a similar post back in October:

Just took mine out on it's maiden voyage today. Did plenty of jumps and wheelies and it didn't choke a bit. Ran perfect.

sounds like you all are having the same problem i had when i got mine in sept. get it in a tight spot where it might die and it would backfire blowing the carbs off the intake . had it to the dealer three times they finally got it fixed they said the jetting was all wrong brought it home rode it about two of three hours it done the same dang thing again so i done the next best thing drilled a few holes in the lid on the airbox to this day i have had no problem!

Yamaha knew about the problem it has something to do with the gas in the carb sloshing the put some kind of wall if you will or should i say a gasket to keep from sloshing around so much. If I were ya'll i would take it to the dealer they should be aware of the problem

happy trails
