Temperature Gauge Mounting
#1
I comtemplated on where to mount my temp gauge. Right now, I am not crazy about where i have it. I sure would love some feedback about this mounting and perhaps some suggestions on where I could move it to. I was going to mount it on the side where the speedo is located but wast sure if that plastic would hold the gauge.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Sorry about the quality, pictures were taken with good ole cell phone.

The only problem I see is that if you have to go underneath a down tree, it might hit since it is higher than the speedometer. I don't know where else you could put it.
How hard was this to install? I would like to do this to mine if it is not to difficult. How long did it take? What did you have to do as far as taking stuff off?

I agree in that I dont like how it sticks up. I have been known to roll an ATV before and that would be the first thing to go. It wasnt that hard to install and I guess it all depends on your mechanic know-how. If you dont mind splicing into wires then go for it. I got the kit from High Lifter. It comes with everything you will need. The only thing that was fabricated was the piece it was mounted on. I may end up moving it beside the speedometer.
Basically, you put a tee into the radiator hose and the sending unit screws into the tee. From there you run the wires up into the back of the gauge. In order to get the light to work on the gauge, you have to find a hot wire and splice into that. Other than that and mounting the gauge it is pretty straight forward.
I was having problems with overheating and was constantly pulling over to let my atv cool. Luckily it was only mud had clogged the back of the radiator. I know now to clean it really well after everytime I ride. The gauge may be overkill but it sure helps you keep an eye on the temp.
