Axle Question???
#1
I recently took my axle out and put new bearings in it, i;ve riden it twice now and noticed when i picked up the rear of the quad that there was alot of play btw the sprocket and the brake disc, if i lift it just barely off the ground i can move the swing arm btw the sprocket hub and the brake disc i know i didnt forget to put anything back on when i put it back together? The only thing i can think of is that when i was taking the axle off i was trying to take it off on the sprocket side and i moved it a little bit and finally figured out it wasnt coming off that way, so anyways i had a machine shop press it back on, mabye they didnt press it on as far as its suppoesd to go...it sure looks like it is though cause its right up to that clip? so im really confused? i really hope i didnt wreck the bearings in the carrier ?

Well when putting the bearing back in and the oil seals make sure the seal is abotu flush with the side of the carrier or else it will cause clearance problems when sliding the axle in...Push it in and make sure you have the axle nut as tight as it will go and then jack the quad up once you get everything back together and check...Also if the carrier is loose in the swingarm that could be moving around and making it look like a bearing problem so take a closer look and take it apart to check and see the condition of the bearings...If they are ruined get new ones etc...Let me know if you have any problems or need clarification.
