I have an 01 sportsman and i noticed today after about 15min of riding that it started acting funny. Eventually everytime i would give it the gas it would jsut bog down and go no where. Anything below 1/4 throttle works alright and when going down a hill with no load i can get a little more with no problems, but going up a hill or trying to gun it it sputters and dies and goes no where. It also does it when reving it in neutral, go past 1/4 throttle and it sputters. Not sure if something in the carb is sticking or what. Any ideas? Im going muddin on sunday and need help.

 

if its doing it in neutral as well i would say if its above 1/4 throttle then its your main jet plugged. if you try it w/ the choke on does it get better? if so then lack of fuel is the problem for sure. maybe even want to change fuel filter as well. just an idear

 

It does do it with the choke on.

 

time to pull the carb off and clean it maybe.

 

Damnit... such a process. Oh well.

 

just make sure as well the float is working corectly and isnt making it run out of gas when you require more from it. if you could get to it, you could just drop the cent drain bolt out and pull the main jet out thru the hole, but to me its just as easy to pull the carb. good luck and let us know.
