you will need a lift kit and a clutch kit if you go w/ anything over 27". i have xtr's 27" on my 800 and i did add a primary spring, but w/ anything bigger it takes more clutching to keep up the power low end when turning the bigger tires. if you stay w/ the 27" you wont need a lift kit and most likely can get by w/ stock clutching. no matter what, you wont stay w/ him bombie w/ 30" tires. it has more power to begin w/ anyways. just a thought

already felt underpowered?

One of the guys I ride with has 28" on his 700efi (they scrub just a little), but even without a clutch kit, he doesn't have a problem turning the tires. Remember to use LOW in the mud-- high gear is for general trail riding.

Remember... when he's replacing his chassis because he bent it on a rock, you'll still be riding. Look at how his chassis is make-- very clever, but the skidplate is the frame. Once it is bent around some the bombie will get clutch misalignment and suspension torques because of a bent frame.

Please tell me you don't really believe a few dings, dents and scratches on the bottom of a Can Am's center spar has an effect on the torque or handling. What planet are people from that they feel it's necessary to spread stupid crap like that. A skid plate does the same thing for a Can Am it does for any other make, which is prevents the the vital components from getting dings and dents. If you decide to drive into a car, a tree, or a stone wall, the frame might buckle or twist similar to the damage that would happen to anything else with wheels. Then you might notice a problem. Think before you repeat things you heard other idiots say some where else!

800, underpowered? I've gone through some nasty stuff with my 500s and as long as I leave it in low they've got through everything so far. Use low for anything under 10mph and it should have plenty of tourque.

i may have miss wrote the under power thing... it has loads of power . it hit a mud pit and there was a log hiddin underneeth and i got hung up , when i let of the throtle to go in revers and back to low it just seemd a little sluggish gettin the tires to spin again(from 1150 to mabey 2500 rpm) thats where my whole under power thing came in . i do have the 26/10/14 o front and 26/ 12/ 14 on back...the bounty hunters.. wondering if that might be takin a little torque away.
Has anybody put 27 mudlites on the stock rims? clutch spings are cheap enough so i got no problem with buyin one .

Now for the bombardier.. my buddy has rolled his down a 10 foot bank.........$5000 damage , needed a new frame and he got thedealer to fix it . hes still finding loose nuts and bolts , but im not dissin the machines i think there great ... it make me jellous evey now and then , but mines got the comfort , the smooth ride ,exellent handling , smooth power and lots of it . his is just bigger , lighter and more top end , that could be due to his 30s hes got.

Thanks to u all for the help and info , happy ridin
