Default Wolverine 450- FST 500 kit

Well I just finished reading the write-up in dirtwheels sept. issue. FST is making a new 500 kit for the wolverine 450. It looks like it would cost a person about 1500.00 to make one.
Big bore kit - 350.00
new sleeve - 175.00
stroker crank - 350.00
case modification - 75.00
FST camshaft - 165.00
assembly labor - 400.00

I am savin my pennies now for when the time comes that I need to upgrade my wolvy.

yup i read about it today in my friends dirtwheels. the machine itself was looking pretty nice, they didnt talk much about the performance of the engine though.

I was actually kinda disappointed in the artical and the machine. They seemed to have built a nice engine but are still choking it down by using the factory 33mm carb. Also they say it uses a 89mm piston which alone would make the engine 466cc but then they go and say that they use the stroker crank to get the other 59cc to make up 500, Its either they use a 86.5mm piston and a stroker crank to get 500 or they do use a 89mm piston but then the stroked crank only needs to add 33ccs. BTW there is a guy on the board that already has a 505 wolverine built by FST that sounds a lot nicer than the one in the artical.

No because the biggest kit FST makes is a 466cc for the air cooled 350s and 400s. the 505 kit has been out a while and works on the water cooled kodiak 400, 450, Grizzly 400, 450 and the Wolverine 450.

EDIT: I thought it was a wolverine but it was a 2005 Kodiak 450 IRS goes by weaver i belive

Well they used to have a 500 kit for the older style wolverines but they quit producing it either because of reliability concerns or the cost was too expensive for most people. I know of atleast two people that have the 500 kit on older wolvys.

When Yamaha kills the Grizz 660, Wouldn't it be nice if the used that motor for a Wolverine (maybe a manual shift too).
