Stock I've heard 50-55 mph but I've not gone that fast yet. I would imagine the 500 would have a higher top speed and get there faster too.

Im 95% positive that the stock CDI cuts out at around 8000 rpms which according to the factory speedo is 55MPH. Or it cuts out at 55MPH which is about 8000 RPMs. only way to get more top speed out of these machines is to change the mechanical gearing in the transmission or get a CDI that allows more RPMs.

Yep, mine is pegged at 55mph. There is a good bit left in it too ... I can still hit it even at 75-80% throttle. Definitely need that CDI box ...

The stock rev limiter is a huge bottleneck on our top end. As far as the 500 kit, I would wait until the CDI comes out. With the current look of things, that will be never.

You know what is weird, On my wolverine I can only get up to about 53 mph. When I was stock I could hit about 52 mph. I think that it is actually the gearing that keeps me from going any faster because it does not feel like I am hitting a rev limiter.

Your right at 52-53 the engine cant breath at those RPMs. I checked with mine by jacking the rear of the bike off the ground and holding the throttle. I really think it is speed limited to 55mph and not RPM limited.

I don't really care if I can go faster than 55, I just want to get there REALLY fast.

I wonder if anyone makes a different sheave for the Wolverine? Or does anyone re-machine the stock sheave for more speed? It wouldn't matter if top end is speed limited instead of RPM limited, but if an RPM limit in the CDI is the problem a sheave would make a difference because they give you more top speed without more RPM.

I know on the Rhino the CDI limits top speed to 40 mph, and limits RPM to 6800. Changing the CDI gives you an additional 9 mph by eliminating the speed limiter. Changing the sheave then gives you another 6 mph top speed, without increasing max RPM at top speed.

I just put a Trinity sheave and new roller weights in our Rhino. Give them a call and start making some noise about wanting a new sheave for the Wolverine. The sheave change helps, but the aftermarket manufacturers need to hear about the need for the product before they will build it.
