What are my probable problems if the transmission is slipping badly on my atv? I have heard something about o-rings, but I don't know enough about the tranny to understand what I am being told.

When Honda assmebled the front cover it is possible that the O rings got cut or rolled over and ended up breaking over a peroid of time. This will let the oil pressure bleed off and make your tranny slip.

Make sure to let the quad idle for about 10 minutes, then sit for two before checking the oil level. Low oil, or the wrong weight can cause the transmission to slip. Also, the 650's need to warm up for a couple minutes in cold weather before the transmission will shift firmly.

If the oil level is correct and it still slips when warm, take it to the dealer. They can check oil pressure at several test ports. Some of the earlier ones had an issue with an O-ring that could cause low oil pressure in the transmission....

Let us know how it turns out.
