No, it goes directly to nuetral, all other gears are fine. I had it out earlier around home and I could not get it to do it. Maybe the shift fork is wearing?

2nd gear is almost always the first to go out on higher HP engines. Warn gear dogs will do that or it could also be a warn thrust washer or shift fork. Or maybe its the shift drum. The only way to really tell is to open it up and check it out. The Banshee/RZ motors were not known for having bad transmissions but Yamaha XS750s, XS850s, and XS1100s all blew out 2nd gear due to warn out gear dogs. The gear worked perfect after the dog teeth were cleaned up with a file.
