wanting to order this instead of the 440 because i hear about the head gasket problems on the 440 kits. would i have to run 93 octane and high fuel with the 426 kit? wheres a legit place to order them? i found one on ebay for 250 bucks

No you won't have to run 93. 91 would be fine for 11:1.

Why would you NOT run 93 even in a stock engine? You arent talking but a difference of just over 20 cents per fill up.

i was going to go with a je 44o kit with hot rod crank but now i might go with a 426 kit now that you said the head gasket blows a lot but eather way if i go with a 426 or a 440 what stage 2 cam is the best on a 400ex ? and what is realy the diffrance in power between the two? is it just a littel or a lot (i ride in the woods alot )my freind has a 500cc)

i wouldnt go with the stage 2 cam if your doing just trail riding. stage 2 cam is more for motocross/racing. ill be getting a stage 1 hot cam down the road.

i had a 04 with the wiseco 440 kit 11 to 1 with stage 2 cam edelbrock carb! had no problems and put a ton of hours on it my dad had a 01 and put the je 440 kit with 12 to 1 ,stage 2 and blew the motor after 15 hours i got my kit on e bay! and as far as the 426 kit goes they rev faster but dont have the torq the 440 has but will cost much less you dont got to resleave your cyclinder! run at least 92 or higher octane the higher you go the cooler it burns
