I my opinion two strokes, especially the Banshee, are more fun than 4 strokes when you have space to ride (like dunes, fire roads etc.). I love my raptor and its reliability is great but the Banshee is a crazy machine once it is piped and is pretty reliable, and it loves to ridden at high rpm. My 89 LT-500 was almost impossible to start, but once it was started there is nothing like it. Two strokes are not as reliable as four strokes, require more care in terms of storage and fuel and will eventually need an engine rebuild.

I use only Yamalube 2-stroke and at least 92 octane fuel in my 02 banshee and except for crash damage have never had any issues.

Two strokes will blow up easier at pro-longed high RPMs than a four stroke. The method I used to use on my 2 strokes was to hold the throttle wide open as I was going through the gears and as soon as I shifted into top gear I would only hold it wide open for about 5 seconds at a time, let off for a second, then get back on it. Going down a road even using this method is still hard on the engine. If I were you I would back off the throttle a little after holding it wide open for longer than a half mile. When trail riding, take some extra spark plugs and a wrench with you, as 2 strokes tend to foul a plug every now and then. Make sure you mix your gas and oil at the correct ratio, or this could cause engine damage or excessive plug fouling.

don't buy a brand new banshee... NEVER buy a brand new banshee... you're better off buying a used one.. just besure u look over it and make sure everything is good on it...

True what has been said about two strokes. They love to be revved out, and if they're jetted good you shouldn't blow it up. I rode my KTM 300 last weekend, and at the end of a 40 mile cross country loop I came out on the blacktop highway about six miles from where I had left my truck. I had no speedometer, so just kept up with a Chevy suburban on the highway. The speedlimit is 75, so I suspect we were going at least that speed. Everything held together just fine, but the exhaust pipe had changed from a chrome platinum plating, to bright bright blue! I'm thinking that the exhaust pipe got real hot in six miles of riding wide open.

Have fun with the new Banshee, you're going to love it. We had one until last year.

th great thing about a 2 stroke rebuild is that 2 strokes don't cost no where near the amount it costs for a 4 stroke because theres notin really to them with a shee the mods r endless and they should b around for a long time
