700 Grizz sucking in steam and bog! anyone fix this
#1
First of all id like to say i am new to quadding, and i love this machine. i ride dirtbikes and sleds all the time. this is the most comfy of them all! problem i have is when i take it into deep muskeg holes. it will make it through the first one no problem but once it gets to the second one i will end up sitting right in the middle of it with now power to even turn the tires and fighting to keep it running. it is pretty annoying because i would have made it through this spot and now i am stuck in a place that has no trees to winch to. So i know it is sucking in steam! there was a lot of steam after the first hole. my dealer told me to slowly idle into the first hole until things cool down and then punch it. First of all i think that is GAY if i have to do that! i didn't buy a big 4X4 to take it easy in the mud and skag. so i am looking at the airbox and noticing that it sucks from underneath by the engine. so if water comes in and hits the pipe, steam goes up and boom kills power.
so is there anyway to stop this from happening? can i change this airbox to suck from up top. From riding sleds all the time you would think you would want to suck the coolest air possible! not hot air right off your engine!
please point me in the direction of a fix!

Hilifter's forums has lots of mud riders that have snorkeled their Grizzlys. I have seen a link on their site to someone that sells them. Head on over there and do a search for snorkels.
