Default shocks...hard or soft?

i was just wondering, i took a look at my shocks and noticed they were set to be pretty soft, so i moved em up 2 notches and i moved the back up one notch, i took it for a ride and i noticed quite a difference. before i touched em everyonce in awhile id hit a jump and the front would bottom out so i know the front shocks have to stay at least one notch up. whats the big difference and what setting should i ride at?

Keep doing what you are doing.

Put it on different setting and take it for a ride and find the best setting for you and your riding style.

you're adjusting the compression on the spring letting it soak up sudden bumps faster but gives a little bit rougher ride.
