Default Polaris top end clatter

I have about 750 miles on my quad and i noticed the other day whiile riding it that it has a slight clatter, sounds like its comming from the top end, are valves adjustable on these things? whats the lash sposed to be set at? is that normal for a 4 stroke? my 01 scrambler did the same thing and never seemed to hurt the performance or anything, what to do???

chances are the valves are out. someone who has a book or who has done it will know the gaps. maybe ftwft(i know its wrong, but cant remeber letters) will chime in where he runs his scramble.

Vales set at .006 for both intake and exhaust. Most likly what you are hearing is the reciol starter rattling. Most of the time the valves get tight and you get hard starting and a loss in power. But it never hurts to check them.
