I have a Magnum 500. 2001. It seems to be shifting into gears..low, high, reverse.
But when I give it the gas it grinds and it won't go. I can fix it but don't want to disassemble the whole thing to find out it is just some simple plastic part. Any help with where I should begin looking for the problem would be appreciated.....

 

Start by checking the bell cranks on the tranny where the shift rods hook to.They tend to strip out.If these arent bad it is time to tear down the tranny for new shift forks and chains and maybe a gear or two.It is harder to pull the tranny out than to repair whats inside

Also try ajusting the shift rod's that's what my frend's problem was
