should i get a kodiak 4x4
#4
I have a 00 Kodiak and LOVE it. I think it's a very versatile machine. Over the weekend my brother got some good action shots of me on it, going through deep mud/water, riding a wheelie, riding it on two wheels and jumping. Keep your eyes open in this forum, I will have those pictures scanned and posted within a week.
As far as the belt slipping, one will run into this if you take it into water as deep as the racks. If you do this and the belt slips, drain the water and within just a few minutes you're back on the road.

I was checking out the pics of you drowning in the water and was wondering if water had gotten into your front/rear trans. Did you have to change the oil for either?

Kodymoe,
The reason I was dead in the water is due to a spark leakage. I do a lot of water riding and every now and then I have to reapply dielectric grease to my spark plug boot. Unfortunately for me, prior to the ride you refer to I did not reapply the grease.
The Kodiak can handle deeper water than that before it starts to take in water for the belt. Once the water gets right up to the racks is when it will start to take on water. As far as getting water in my oil, that has happened to me only once. I was crossing the water when I hit a drop off that was about 6ft. Me and the quad went rolling over. And with it still running while upside down, it didn't take long for me to get water in the carb and oil.
Btw, where you see me dead in the water, I could of easily made it through that if I had kept up the speed. But since them temp was around 35 that day and that water was very cold, I was inching things along because I didn't want to drive off into a deep spot and get myself soaked.
