CAN-AM (BOMBARDIER 400) Rear CV Boot?
#1
We need to replace one on a buddies rig and before jumping in with both feet I am curious if after the axle is removed from the bike dose the joint pop off the splines with a hammer or are you supposed to get a cone boot stretching tool to put them on?

You may have to remove the trailing arm. To remove the axle you need to clean all grease off the exposed splines where the axle enters the cv joint. Turn the axle and look real close at the splines where it enters the cv and look for a clip. When you find it you will need to spread the clip apart.I use a medium flat screwdriver, insert it and turn sideways, and have your buddy pull on shaft. When you reinsert it no spreading is required. you have to be careful that when you spread the clip that it is not polling up because it will lock the bottom in.

Nice description, I know the kind you are referring to is not real common in the car world but thanks a bunch that will help things go much smoother.
