Seems the 08 claim was just a bunch of yang yang.

I can't comment on an Outtie. I don't own one and have never driven one.
I can comment on the Viscolok in a Traxter. They are seamless and lock up instantly. I also have reason to believe that the Outtie is different. I have heard this too many time to disreguard it. When I get some time and race season ends I will show you a video of my Traxter in action. About a 1/4 of a turn and both tires are in the game.

You are looking at a video from a person who has done extensive testing of ATV's and for that I commend him. However, he has stated he is a critic of the ViscoLok and has taken great pains to test it in situations that he knew ahead of time would cast performance issues with the ViscoLok. I will agree the ViscoLok is not the 'end all' of front locking differentials. It does what it is designed to do very well and that is to provide traction in most situations without rider input. It suits my style just fine and I am getting tired of all the 'testing', bashing and critical reviews. That is particularly true when it comes from people whose only agenda is to find fault with the CanAms when they do not own or ride one. Enough already

Lets do a little test of our own....Take a Yamaha and a Suzuki 4x4 and put them in 4 wheel drive AND lock t he front differentials....Then we put the Can-Am in 4 wheel drive...We go on a 50 mile twisting mountain fire road and see who gets there first.....
I run my Can-Am in 4x4 alot as it handles great when driving down a trail and its ready for obstacles without stopping. I do a lot of extreme trails, including rock crawling, out here in Arizona and like the way the Visco Lock performs. I ride with the other brands and have seen them have problens sliding sideways (down) when crossing a slick offcamber rock in full lock up.....
Therei s good and bad with every set up. I can tell you that for most of us, even the more extreme riders, we ride 90% of the time not needing 4 wheel drive and probably only need full lock up 3% of the time...and my Outlander will still get through that 3%....I know, as I've been there and done it....while helping the other through.....

Oh yeah...the engine breakking coupled with the Visco Lock is the SAFEST ATV on the market for going down steep loose trails.....
And even my buddy with his Yamaha 700 with power steering doesn't ride it with the front diff locked, he said it is still hard to turn, so he stops to undo it after an obstacle....

Ding, ding, ding, ding, you go to the head of the class azsandrider.
Everybody thinks that lockers are the best thing for everything. In off camber slick rocks, this is just not the case. When your making a turn with a locker, the inside tire trys to slow down and the outside tire trys to speed up. When this happens it trys to rip the tires loose from the rock. This is where the Visco lock shines. It will allow the clutch pack to slip just a touch and won't break the tires loose.
This is the same thing with circle track racing. Lockers are good but Gold Trac's are the best!!!!
