Default 95 sportsman - no fire

1995 Sportsman 400L, Fires sometimes runs for a while, dies, then will not fire again. After it sits for a while then it might Fire Again. Anyone have any ideas what I can try. I have changed spark plug, cleaned the stator, ground is good, battery is good.
Thanks

this was not the problem either. Any other ideas. Sometimes I go out and it fires right up, then it dies and will not start again

my uncle's trailblazer did the same thing. after it sat for a while and cooled off competely it would fire right up. after running for a bit and got warm it would eventually die and not start back up for a while. unfortunately the motor lost compression and is now being rebuilt. have you done a compression check? might be rebuild time.
