I have a 90R viper. Just replaced the indicator light panel. Wires pulled loose on old one. Now, when putting the electric shift switch in any position, no shift. If i rev up the RPM's, the light corresponding to gear position will flash, still no shift though. When RPM's drop to idle, light will stop flashing.
Prior to indicator panel replacement, engine would shut down when shifting switch. Otherwise, bike ran like top.
Any ideas? CDI is 150.00 bucks, and I'm not real sure thats it, actually doubt it.
Secondly, I've seen mention of starter motor relating to shift. Is this so,and would it effect it even though it starts fine?
I'm going nuts, and son wants it running to. Help.

 

It's either the shift motor or the cdi hope this helps

 

Sorry it took so long, But thanks for your help. I think I'm going to try the shift motor first, it's cheaper.
