Is there some secret agreement among the big 4, ktm, and polaris- to ALWAYS put the chains on the left side and the pipes on the right side? Or is it bomb that is the oddball to put the chain on the right side and pipe on left side?

The only quads i've seen with a left side pipe and right side chain are the ds450, ds250, and ds650?

ARE THERE NO OTHER QUADS WITH THE SAME STYLE AS THE DS FAMILY?

Well I can't speak for the pipe but as for the sprocket.......It always works better to put the chain on the same side as the countershaft sprocket. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] j/k

Remember the motor in the DS came out of a streetbike and a lot of streetbikes have the chain on the right side.

I imagine the exhaust got moved to the opposite side to give the suspension more clearance so the pipe didn't bang on the rear sprocket if you bottomed it out.

 

does it make a difference, as long as it works?

 

doesnt really make a difference, its would just make it harder to do conversions, or is it possible to flip the axle around to put the chain on the other side?
