I had the pull starter break on me, then the starter died and the battery. So i ditch the pull starter for now, put in a new starter and a new batter. First ride was at nite the hole time the speed didnt work battery light flashed. When i got to where i was goin turned it of and dead. Today i charged the battery and when i start it it doest flash the speedo with the lights on or not so far,(was only idleing off and on for a while). I took a volt meter and check the following, battery- 12.2-12.3, When running battery is 12.2 solid, when turn the lights on the battery is 11.5, 3 yellow wires goin from stator to regulator 2 of them are 3.3 and the other was 2.5, the 2 red power wires from the regulator that come back to the battery and are suposed to recharge it are 12.2 while runing.

I dont know much about electricty, but i need some help here, I dont know if these are the same numbers it would of have the night i rode it, but i couldnt duplicate the batter light flashing today.
O when i had the charger hooked up the first start the fan came on instantly and the speedo flashed hot, it did that about 5 times then no more, motor was cold cause it was 40 degrees out.
Any help appreciated.

it sounds like the emc modual is going bad. it controlls a number of things including the voltage recifier i do beleave.
also i think theres a recall on certain years and bikes for the emc so maybe ask your dealer and theres a post in here some where about it so do a search.

 

I had that recall done bake in august 05.
